Project: The World of Dust
When: 2013 – present
What: The World of Dust is my main outlet for my solo music and art (collages). Each project under this moniker is different. With Bhava, I made a 44-page collage book to accompany the album. The music could only be heard at special Listening Sessions. The framed cassette X (a collaboration with artist The Things We Are) was presented at Into the Great Wide Open 2014. Several small live performances and exhibitions took place after 2014. In 2015, Womb Realm (recorded with producer Todd Tobias) saw the light of day. Golden Moon (a book as well as a cd) was released in 2017. For more information, sounds & art, please visit www.theworldofdust.nl.
Project: Tiny Room Records
When: 2014 – present
What: I run my own small independent label called Tiny Room Records. I help upcoming bands with their recordings, tours, releases, and with reaching their (niche) audience. With Tiny Room Records I stand for small-scale, sympathetic releases of artists that make music out of love, passion and/or necessity, whether it’s indie rock, lo-fi, psychedelica, ambient or folk. So far, I’ve put out 23 albums on LP, CD or cassette by artists such as Todd Tobias, Queen of the Meadow, Sven Agaath and This Leo Sunrise. Listen to one of the releases by a brilliant band called Moon Moon Moon here:
Project: Studio Patrick
When: 2012 – present
What: We have our own rehearsal space / recording studio in Utrecht, called Studio Patrick. It’s like a man cave, but with instruments. We share the space with likeminded bands such as Lost Bear, I Am Oak, This Leo Sunrise, The Fire Harvest, Homemade Empire, Paranoid State and Howart. We do (very small) DIY shows here too.
Project: The Subhuman
When: 1998 – 2013
What: The Subhuman was my solo outlet. In 15 years I created a catalogue of songs, containing 24 records and songs on several compilations. As The Subhuman, I recorded and (self-)released around 250 songs. I played 88 solo shows in The Netherlands, France, Germany, Luxembourg and the UK. See more on this website.
Project: Shaky Maracas
When: 2010 – present
What: a music collective / label based on a group of Utrecht musicians. Although there seems to be total anarchy, Shaky Maracas managed to put out 50 albums so far, and organized several band nights, art shows and even an Indie Route – a video route in Utrecht with contributions by bands as The Fire Harvest, Homemade Empire, Kim Janssen and I Am Oak. Several of the releases on Shaky Maracas are mine, and I also helped with a lot of artwork, promotion and ideas. One of the albums I put out (SM#002) is the ep by Onkalo, released on June 26th, 2011:
All birds dream of being human (2009, book+cd and an exhibition, with The Things We Are)
I made the music, Joost Stokhof made the drawings, together we did an exhibition.
